Resume formats have really evolved. In the past, resumes were typeset, focused on job titles and experience, and highlighted job descriptions. Today's resume still has a professional appearance, but it now highlights results and achievements, and hard copies are no longer an absolute requirement. These days, employers can accept—and sometimes prefer to receive—resumes in a variety of formats, including
traditional print, electronic and scannable.
If you already have a resume, ask yourself: Does its format stand up to the demands of today’s hiring managers? If you're not sure, refer to our resume
summary checklist to find out.
